Cancer treatment has significantly evolved with the integration of advanced AI and medical physics. This talk delves into the landscape of lung cancer treatment, exploring techniques like radiofrequency ablation (RFA), microwave ablation (MWA), cryoablation, irreversible electroporation (IRE), and immunotherapy. We will also discuss computer-guided lung tumor biopsy.
A key focus will be on microwave ablation (MWA), a minimally invasive procedure that uses heat to destroy cancerous tissue. We will present our research on a novel biophysical simulation-based probabilistic treatment planning methodology, developed in collaboration with Kansas State University, phenoMapper, LLC., and Silpakorn University. This approach, powered by neural networks for providing anatomical information, enhances the precision of finite element analysis to predict ablation zones and treatment outcomes. By optimizing microwave dose and device positioning, we aim to improve patient outcomes and reduce the risk of tumor recurrence.
Finally, we will explore emerging trends in cancer diagnosis and treatment that may shape future research directions
